Message to Clubs and Student Organizations

MARCH 13, 2020

RE: PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear Student Organizations,

The President announced today that beginning on Monday, March 16, 2020, all face-to-face instruction will be suspended and courses will move to online format. As of midnight tonight, we will be cancelling or postponing all non-essential events that are not required as part of an academic program. Similarly, all student organization events will be cancelled or need to be postponed effective midnight tonight. This includes both on campus and off campus events.

For those organizations that have signed a contract with off-campus vendors, we encourage you to review your contracts and speak to the vendor regarding the cancellation, credit and refund policies. Previously planned events may be postponed until after April 30 but this date is subject to change based on a future safety assessment.

If you require support navigating your contract, please contact the Manager, Student Life at Student Community & Leadership Development via email: jairak@yorku.ca.

We understand that a tremendous amount of planning and effort has gone into these events with the intention of bringing together the vibrant student community of York University. As student leaders, you play an integral role of providing a sense of belonging and we appreciate your understanding of our current situation as a university community.

If you have any follow up questions, please contact the Centre for Student Community & Leadership Development at (416) 736-5144 or email yuclubs@yorku.ca.
