We are emailing you about the Fall/Winter 2020-2021 academic year to commence in September.
Course enrolment, originally scheduled to begin on a rolling basis on April 27, will now begin on June 8. Your Faculty will follow up with you by email by May 18 to confirm your new course enrolment date.
We are working as quickly as possible to ensure a seamless enrolment process for you with a wide selection of courses, whether delivered wholly or partially through remote instruction.
If you’ve already scheduled an enrolment appointment, we want to assure you that you do not need to take any action; we will reschedule your appointment for a new date/time. Your academic advisor will be in touch with you. Don’t hesitate to contact your advisor if you have questions about your courses or program.
Virtual transition to York
YU START will help you meet new people and provide campus life and student support services. Every undergraduate student has access to YU START; however, the Faculties below conduct their course enrolment for newly admitted students through YU START:
- Arts, Media, Performance & Design;
- Environmental Studies;
- Health; and
- Liberal Arts & Professional Studies.
With the change to enrolment dates, your YU START access time will be adjusted. Visit MyFile to review your new access date and time.
If your Faculty/program does not conduct enrolment through YU START, or you’re a student transferring from a college or university, you will be provided with academic advising through your Faculty to support your transition to York.
Stay engaged with your program & the York community
Your Faculty and degree program office have been communicating with you since you accepted your offer and that will continue. There are many ways you can interact with your peers and learn more about your program – from online receptions and webinars to video and chats and virtual shows. Check out your Faculty website and your email for event and engagement opportunities.
International student support
We know that as restrictions are gradually lifted some of you may face circumstances that impact when you are able to arrive in Canada and join us on our campuses.
York International is here to help you. Our team has gone virtual and we’ll be holding online immigration advising and online health insurance (UHIP) advising sessions via Zoom video meetings during this time. We’re also hosting virtual coffee breaks, so join us, meet your peers, ask questions and start your university life well before you arrive.
If you have questions about work permits, beginning online classes outside of Canada, immigration, UHIP and general international student wellbeing, please email email@example.com.
Getting back onto our campuses
The return to in-person instruction will be guided by the health and safety of our community. Decisions will be based on the advice of public health authorities and the status of emergency orders by governments. As soon as it is safe to do so, we will resume in-person activities.
We’re looking forward to the start of the Fall term and hope that you are too.
