Update on mask or face covering protocol

Update on mask or face covering protocol

Newly introduced provincial requirements, beginning immediately, requires anyone in an indoor space at York University, including all campuses, work sites and satellite offices, to wear a mask/face covering that covers their mouth, nose and chin completely for the entire duration while indoors, unless an exemption applies. Indoor spaces at York includes classrooms, administrative buildings, offices, meeting rooms and common areas in all residences, washrooms, corridors and elevators. Continue to practice physical distancing by staying two meters apart from others, but regardless, masks are required.

We urge everyone to continue to be vigilant by following Public Health guidelines as COVID-19 cases are on the increase locally and provincially.

Some community members may require accommodation for a medical condition or disability which precludes them from wearing a mask or face covering. Please exercise kindness and compassion should you observe a fellow community member not wearing a face covering.

If you have questions or concerns about staying safe on or off campus, please contact the Office of Student Community Relations (OSCR), oscr@yorku.ca, 416-736-5231.

York University will continue to revise and update you on its Mask or Face Covering Protocol and Frequently Ask Questions as per the latest information from the government and other applicable regulators.

Your continued diligence is the key to preventing the spread of COVID-19 and we thank you for your support in these efforts.

Stay safe.
