Community Update #37 - Preliminary update for researchers on strengthened measures to control COVID-19 transmission

To the Associate Deans of Research,

As you are likely aware, in response to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases and the enhanced threat to public health, today the Premier announced strengthened public health measures to help reduce transmission.

Based on our current understanding of the announcement, those researchers, students, post docs and staff who are approved to conduct research on campus can continue to do so. Having said that, we are awaiting more specific information from the Province and Ministry of Colleges and Universities (MCU) to determine if and/or how today’s announcement may impact research activities in the post-secondary sector, and anticipate that the information will be forthcoming early next week. We will then provide additional guidance on research specific activities.

Please encourage all researchers to be mindful of the enhanced Provincial restrictions and State of Emergency directive that, where possible, all research that can be conducted remotely should do so.

Please feel free to share this information with your research staff and graduate students who have been approved to access to campus facilities.

I thank you all for your continued leadership, dedication to research and flexibility in adapting to and navigating the new circumstances of research and scholarship in these unprecedented times.

For ongoing updates, please continue to monitor YU Better Together.
