Non-Compliance with COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate (Oct. 29, 2021)

Non-Compliance with COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate (Oct. 29, 2021)

Re: Non-Compliance with York University’s COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate

As you know, effective September 7, the University established a COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate (the “Policy”) pursuant to the instructions of the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health and the recommendations of the Council of Ontario Medical Officers of Health. The University is statutorily required to ensure compliance with this Policy.

Pursuant to the Policy and the reminder that you were sent on or about October 7, 2021, in order to attend in-person courses or activities and to have continued access to campus, you were required to submit through YU Screen by no later than end of day on October 18, 2021 proof that either: (a) you are Fully Vaccinated within the meaning of the Policy; or (b) York has granted you an exemption from the requirement to be Fully Vaccinated. An additional reminder was sent on or about October 15, 2021.

Our records show that you have still failed to meet that requirement and that you are participating in in-person courses as a student, and/or attending on campus for other academic activities or to perform Work/Study duties.

Accordingly, you remain prohibited from attending on University property and from participating in in-person activities.

Should you fail to respect this prohibition as a student, your conduct will be addressed through the procedure set out in the Code of Student Rights & Responsibilities for non-compliance with the Policy. We refer you to the provisions of Section 3 on COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements Policy Process.

If you do not come into compliance with the Policy by 11:59 p.m. EDT Monday, November 1, 2021, you will be de-enrolled on November 2, 2021 from all in-person courses in which you are registered.

If you have any kind of employment relationship with the University in addition to being a student, you were required to have disclosed your vaccination status as of October 5, 2021 in accordance with the Vaccination Mandate regardless of whether you have been attending in person or participating in in-person activities at York in Fall 2021. Please refer to the update issued on October 25, 2021 for further information for York employees, including student-employees.

Should you have any questions, please refer to the Vaccination FAQs on the Better Together website or contact your respective Faculty Designate
