Final Reminder: Update Your Vaccination Status

Final Reminder: Update Your Vaccination Status

As we begin our phased return to campus, I wanted to follow up on earlier notices about the requirement to be fully vaccinated. Our records show that you are registered for an in-person course for the Winter 2022 term and have provided proof of partial vaccination on YU Screen

Failure to provide proof of full vaccination on YU Screen by Feb. 6 by 11:59 p.m. will lead to de-enrolment from your in-person courses. Due to high demands and long waitlists for certain courses, re-enrolment is highly unlikely. The date to drop a course and receive a full refund has now passed and a full refund will not be issued.

Do not come to campus for any reason unless you provide proof of full vaccination on YU Screen. If you fail to comply with this prohibition, your conduct will be addressed through procedures set out in the Code of Student Rights & Responsibilities.

Where can I access the COVID-19 vaccine?

We recommend finding a nearby drop-in vaccination clinic run directly by a local health authority. This will be the fastest way to update your vaccination record on site and receive your COVID-19 vaccine at the same time. Information about these clinics can be found directly on your local health authority’s website, such as Toronto Public Health, Peel Public Health vaccine clinics, or York Region Public Health Walk-in Clinics

Tip: York will also be hosting COVID-19 vaccination clinics:
Month of January: For all York students who only need a third (booster) COVID-19 vaccine. Appointments are required
Jan. 28: For international students who need a first, second or third (booster) COVID-19 vaccine dose and have updated any vaccine records received out of province. Appointments are required.

BACKGROUND

Effective September 7, 2021, the University established a COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate (the “Policy”) pursuant to the instructions of the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health and the recommendations of the Council of Ontario Medical Officers of Health. The University is statutorily required to ensure compliance with this Policy. The Policy was updated on October 25, 2021, to include the Winter 2022 term.

Pursuant to the Policy, you must have disclosed your vaccination status on YU Screen by November 8, 2021. In order to attend in-person activities and to have continued access to campus during the Winter 2022 term, you were required to submit proof through YU Screen by December 1, 2021 that (a) you are Fully Vaccinated within the meaning of the Policy; or (b) York has granted you an exemption from the requirement to be Fully Vaccinated.

York University’s vaccination mandate for the Winter 2022 term was communicated on or about October 27, 2021, November 5, 2021, November 8, 2021, November 19, 2021November 23, 2021December 15, 2021, and January 20, 2022

Visit the Better Together website for the latest communication and FAQs. International students can reach out to York International at intlstudentquestions@yorku.ca for support.
