Dear York community,
We recently learned of changes to the province’s phased re-opening plan and I write today to provide a related update.
The University has carefully reviewed the details of the government’s announcement and determined that no change to York’s health and safety protocols, processes, or approach is required at this time. The post-secondary sector remains subject to the special rules issued by the COMOH in September 2021 that have informed our plans to provide a safe return to in-person activities.
Community members seeking further information regarding the Winter term are encouraged to review related messages from both the President and Provost. All members of the YU community share responsibility for safety and well-being while on York's campuses. The University’s vaccine mandate remains in place for all community members for the Winter Term 2022 and the below safety measures remain in place:
- YU Screen must be filled out daily, prior to attending campus and be prepared to show your YU Screen clearance upon request while on campus.
- Vaccination is required. York is strongly encouraging all community members to get their third doses and to retain their records for upload to YU Screen.
- Masks are mandatory at York. Please read our protocol and find some important resources here.
- Ventilation at Keele and Glendon Campuses meet the highest standards. Please read more here.
- The University’s case and contact management team continue to do that important work, and COVID-19 cases are posted daily, here.
- Eating spaces have new rules. Please find updated information and guidelines here.

- York has enhanced cleaning protocols in place, more information can be found here.
As always, we will continue to monitor the pandemic and share any developments that impact our community and campuses as quickly as possible including any potential changes that could affect the Summer Term.
