All members of the YU community share a responsibility for safety and well-being while on York's campuses.
The Community of Care Commitment is a pan-university initiative that helps all York members safely transition back to campus. The Community of Care Commitment wraps around the University’s safe return to campus efforts and upholds the following responsibilities for all members and guests of the University, including:
- Observing all COVID-19 health and safety regulations while on our campuses.
- Supporting community well-being through healthy personal behaviours and actions.
- Maintaining compassion, kindness, and empathy towards one another amid times of uncertainty and difficulty.
- Respecting personal health and privacy in balance with the protection of public health.
Putting this into practice
The University takes a multi-level approach to health and safety. Following the principles of the Swiss Cheese Respiratory Pandemic Defence, every action we take can help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Use YU Screen daily before coming to campus to screen for COVID-19 symptoms and confirm it has been done.
Get free rapid testing if you are partially vaccinated, unvaccinated or have an approved vaccination exemption at either of York’s Testing Clinics.
Do you part and stay apart while on York’s campuses.
Wear a mask/face covering in all indoor spaces and follow the latest guidance.
Visit a mask vending machine if you lose or damage your mask/face covering or damage it.
Stay home and don’t come to campus if you feel sick.
