Project Summary

Our project question was: How can we teach the concepts of inclusion and diversity to children aged 3-8 years old through storytelling? We wanted to shine a light on the lack of representation of children with disabilities in literature while encouraging children to understand the importance of cultivating empathy for people with disabilities. We have created an accessible and entertaining ebook that stresses the concept of inclusion - specifically in relation to certain physical disabilities including visual, auditory and mobility impairments. In our ebook, we depict children with disabilities in the context of everyday interactions within different social scenarios and model the act of embracing differences in terms of abilities and ethnicities.
