Project Summary

ycn dots

Located within York Universities' campus, there is an abandoned timber structure in need of rehabilitation. Our team plans to revitalize the structure and the surrounding area by restoring its once historically rich appearance while also providing infrastructure for the site to be used in new ways. Our project will implement two timber barn-like structures that are inspired by the Stong Barn (a heritage structure built during the same era also located on University grounds). These structures will be connected via an underground corridor that will also serve as an exhibition space and as a medium of education prefaced on self-guided tours. The excavated soil will be repurposed to regrade a slope behind the property in the form of an amphitheater. This intervention will further stabilize the area while providing a new recreation space for the community.
