Project Summary

ycn dots

The goal of our project is to amplify the presence of Indigenous voices in public education and support informed and conscientious cross-cultural knowledge building. The Fostering Indigenous Allyship and Knowledge Building Program aims to share grade-specific Indigenous resources and lesson plans with teachers in order to facilitate student understanding and appreciation for Indigenous cultures. Our deliverable includes Indigenous-created activities that focus on topics including truth and reconciliation, land treaties, ancestral and contemporary connections to the land, and particular aspects of Indigenous knowledge building. In addition, we also developed an implementation guide and a resource checklist used to evaluate the efficacy of different activities. The resource checklist enables individual educators to enrich our offering with their own community-specific resources for the purpose of improving future iterations of the program.
