Project Summary

Getting loved ones into long-term care in Ontario can be a difficult and isolating journey for families and often, once relatives transition into long-term care, new issues and questions arise. Our Long-Term Care Toolkit website attempts to directly address the experience and questions of family members of long-term care residents. Our focus is on highlighting the potential for positive experiences in long-term care while responding to family members' concerns and aiming to foster a collaborative model of interaction between direct workers and family members. Other resources we created include educational information about arts programs in long-term care, the legal rights residents can exercise, and the many opportunities for families to get involved through volunteering.
