The purpose of these grants is to cover some of the costs associated with presenting papers at conferences related to Jewish Studies. Preference will be given to faculty and students who have not received research support from the Centre for Jewish Studies in the past two years. Faculty members are eligible to receive up to $750 per year. Graduate students are eligible to receive up to $500 per year. Apply for a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/cjs.apps01.yorku.ca\/machform\/view.php?id=13717\" target=\"_blank\">Faculty Israel Studies Grant<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-pane kt-accordion-pane kt-accordion-pane-6 kt-pane_00611f-5a\"><div class=\"kt-accordion-header-wrap\"><button class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-header kt-acccordion-button-label-show\"><span class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-title-wrap\"><span class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-title\">Publication Grant<\/span><\/span><span class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-icon-trigger\"><\/span><\/button><\/div><div class=\"kt-accordion-panel kt-accordion-panel-hidden\"><div class=\"kt-accordion-panel-inner\">\n<p>The Israel and Golda Koschitzky Centre offers subventions up to a maximum of $2000 to help defray the costs of publishing scholarly books in the field of Jewish studies. Subventions may be either transferred directly to a press or used to cover the costs of expenses associated with the production of a volume. A volume may be either a monograph (single or multi-authored) or an edited collection, as long as one of the main authors or editors is affiliated with the Koschitzky Centre. The Centre welcomes applications on a rolling basis from all faculty and graduate students affiliated with the Centre. Past recipients of Koschitzky Centre Publications Grants are eligible to apply but an applicant may receive no more than one grant every two academic years and not for the same book project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apart from subventions paid directly to a press, eligible expenses may include, but are not limited to, hiring a copyeditor or indexer, and paying for image permissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to receive a publishing subvention, applicants must be faculty members or graduate students currently affiliated with the Centre for Jewish Studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They must also meet one of the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Present a publishing contract or letter of interest from a reputable press stating that the publication of a manuscript is dependent on a subvention of a specified amount, as part of their application package.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>OR<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Present a budget for the rendering of services associated with the production or promotion of their book as part of their application, indicating other sources of support.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Recipients of a CJS publishing grant are expected to give credit clearly and equally to all supporting organizations in the publication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Invoices for all expenses must be submitted directly to the Koschitzky Centre, which will issue payment to the relevant parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Centre will also endeavour to promote those publications that it has sponsored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A complete application may be submitted online through a <a href=\"http:\/\/cjs.apps01.yorku.ca\/machform\/view.php?id=15293\">MACH form<\/a> and should include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. A completed personal information section;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. A current CV;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. A brief book proposal, including a description of the book project, an outline of its contents, a summary of its significance, and information about the book\u2019s relationship to the field and the academic and\/or public market;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. A budget delineating the subvention support requested; the budget should list any other subvention awards to which the author plans to apply;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. A sample chapter;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. A copy of the provisional book contract or letter of interest from a reputable press (stating that publication is dependent on a subvention of a specific amount, where applicable).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>7. A cover letter;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-pane kt-accordion-pane kt-accordion-pane-7 kt-pane_f58f1a-ec\"><div class=\"kt-accordion-header-wrap\"><button class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-header kt-acccordion-button-label-show\"><span class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-title-wrap\"><span class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-title\">CJS Incentive Grant<\/span><\/span><span class=\"kt-blocks-accordion-icon-trigger\"><\/span><\/button><\/div><div class=\"kt-accordion-panel kt-accordion-panel-hidden\"><div class=\"kt-accordion-panel-inner\">\n<p>The CJS Incentive Grant is given to a researcher who has submitted an application for a major grant including, but not limited to, SSHRC, NSERC, NEH, etc. The grant is meant to support the researcher's original application and incentivize CJS faculty and affiliated researchers to apply to external research funding.
