Meet the Work-Study Team

The Work-Study students at Calumet & Stong College consist of students studying in a variety of programs such as Health Studies to Kinesiology, to Professional Writing, to Psychology to Business Administration

Kaniz Farhat

I am a fifth-year international student, pursuing my BSc Hons. in Psychology. I am a mental health advocate and aspire to become a clinical psychologist. I am also one of the the community relation coordinators with UPSA.

I am grateful to be able to create even a small difference in the undergraduate student community through my affiliations with the Stong and Calumet Colleges. In my free time, I love to do interior decoration, listen to music and spend time with family and friends.

Kimberly is a dedicated third-year student majoring in Psychology and minoring in Business, who is very passionate about mental health and aspires to pursue counselling. She used to attend multiple workshops and programs organized by CCSC.

This year, she joined Student Success Team as Agent of Change coordinator, aiming to support students in their journey as they pursue the actualization of their creative ideas in support of the communities. She enjoys collaborating ideas with other people and she is eager to learn and experience different things by getting involved inside and outside of the York community. 

In her free time, Kimberly enjoys listening to music, going to art galleries, hiking, and having deep conversations about mental and social matters.

Hi! My name's Asma and I'm a 3rd year Global Health student, specializing in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. Currently, I'm the Executive VP of the Global Health Student Association (GHSA).

As a GH student and member of GHSA, I'm interested in the how different global processes interact to affect our health and how GH students can use this knowledge to navigate through the field. I'm also an Orientation Coordinator with CCSC.

As an upper year mentor in previous orientations, I hope to bring my experience in making students transition into university as smooth as possible! Some of my hobbies include reading, baking, and playing with my kitten!

Farwa is a fourth-year Global Health student, specializing in Health Policy, Management, and Systems, and joined CCSC as a course rep in 2019. She is also an executive member of the Global Health Students' Association, and is co-leading Lingua Franca, an Agents of Change project. 
 
“As a student success mentor, I aspire to maintain a sense of involvement and togetherness among students and Alumni, and to support students in developing a career-ready skillset” 
 
Farwa loves to do crafts and has a number of hobbies including calligraphy, paper crafting, crocheting, and reading. A perfect day for Farwa includes a couch, her crochet materials, and pop music! 

Amireza Goli

Amireza Goli

Amireza is in the first of two years as a Kinesiology and Health Sciences student here at York, and a transfer student from the University of Western Ontario. 
 
Amireza has joined the CCSC team this year as the Research and Evaluations Assistant and working to develop and evaluate projects that will serve to enhance the wellbeing of students in and out of the Faculty of Health. He is also involved in the Course Representatives program, the KAHSSO UHRE coordinator, and chair for the Office of the Registrar’s Student Advisory Committee. 
 
Amireza has an interest and curiosity for people—from the biochemical to the sociocultural level, and is passionate about facilitating health and wellbeing at each scale. Outside of his work and studies, Amireza is an avid photographer shooting images of deep space with his telescope “whenever Toronto manages to have a clear sky!”

I am a second-year global health student specializing in health policy, management and systems! So far, my experience with Calumet and Stong Colleges has been great.

I have met many people that are inspiring and have been opened to many opportunities. In my free time, you can find me playing with my dog, Aspyn, trying new foods, or being an amateur barista at home.

My name is Stefanie and I am in my first year of the Bachelor of Education program! I'm looking forward to starting my career as a Primary/Junior teacher upon graduating in 2023. As a future educator, I hope to be an advocate for Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and Inclusive Practices in the field of education. 
 
Earlier this year, I completed my Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology here at York University. Through my undergrad, I am very fortunate to have been involved in our vibrant school community. In November of 2019, I joined the Undergraduate Psychology Students Association (UPSA) where I started off as a Peer Tutor and eventually became one of the club's Peer Tutoring Department Coordinators.

As a club executive, I had the pleasure of working closely with Calumet and Stong Colleges' Student Success team. I got to meet and collaborate with so many wonderful people from the Colleges and other clubs. Through my involvement with CSCSS, I also had the opportunity to volunteer for a number of events such as Academic Orientation and the 2021 Teaching in Focus Conference.

I am very excited to be working with the Colleges yet again as the Community Development Coordinator (EDI), and I can't wait to start planning some informative new events and initiatives.

Kaye is in her fourth-year majoring in Psychology and minoring in Linguistics. What has started as a hobby, her passion for Digital Media interests her to learn more about the field of Marketing. 
 
Kaye has been involved in many ways within the YorkU community. She started as a Marketing Ambassador with UPSA and is now this year's Vice President of Marketing. She has also dedicated her time in a few initiative projects by the Colleges. 
 
In her free time, she likes to binge watch historical tv shows, watch random videos on YouTube, and walk around with her dog, Kol.

Hi everyone! I’m in my final year at York University, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. 
 
I got involved with CCSC starting in 2018 through the Undergraduate Psychology Student Association (UPSA) where I started as a Peer Ambassador and then eventually became the Vice President of Marketing. I really started to learn and experience more about what the colleges have to offer to students over the last few years, and I’ve formed an attachment to the community and want to continue contributing to the growth and success of a place where I’ve really found help in developing myself as a student and professional. 
 
I do hope to continue within psychology in the future, however, I'm really enjoying my position within marketing, so I'm looking to continue exploring a career there. Aside from that, I'm a huge soccer fan, I love trying new food, and I'm currently dabbling in some calligraphy!

My name is Natachi Ugwu-ojobe and I will be working within the CCSC media, marketing and communications team for the Fall/Winter 2021-2022 Academic Session.

I am a 2nd year major in the Honors Psychology program and hope to be accepted into the Specialized Honors Psychology Program. My previous experiences with the college’s student success programs, specifically the mentoring services and study sessions, was what inspired me to work closely with the colleges.

I came across dedicated and hardworking people who definitely contributed to my academic success in that year. My hobbies include writing, taking long walks at midnight, reading psychology related content and travelling to experience different cultures.

Hello everyone, I'm Milad! I am in my 4th year of Kinesiology, and I am working as a Course Representative Coordinator as well as a Peer Tutor for KAHSSO. The colleges have helped me out so much early on in my undergraduate career, so it's an honor to be able to give back to the community.

My interests include playing basketball, running, listening to music and singing along, as well as watching movies/shows. I'm always open to recommendations and new things to try out!

Hello! My name is Alexa and I’m in my second year of Kinesiology and Health Science. I’ve been involved with the colleges in my first year as a course representative, which is how I got the opportunity to work as a coordinator for the program this year. I also volunteer as a peer mentor and peer coach with KAHSSO.

I’m interested in research and medicine, and I want to further my education in the field of exercise science. My favourite type of exercise is cardio. I aspire to travel the world while I’m still young and to live life to the fullest while continuing to learn, grow, and make a positive impact on others.

Hi, my name is Simran, I'm a psychology student. I am a Creative Arts Educator, where I facilitate speed sketching, painting, and photography workshops. I really enjoy art using watercolours, acrylics, drawing, and learning new things about art.

Joey is a fifth-year specialized honours psychology student who aspires to pursue postgraduate studies in counselling psychology. 
 
As a student researcher, she has expanded her interests in social psychology and mental health. Within the Colleges, she has been involved with UPSA and is currently the Vice President of Student Success. 
 
Aside from her passion in wellness and research, Joey has always had a knack for the creative arts and has been drawing for as long as she can remember. She believes that anyone can engage in the creative arts, whether that is painting, playing music, poetry, or journaling – and these activities can always be utilized with your wellness in mind. In her position within the Colleges as a Creative Arts Educator, she hopes to engage students in creative activities that speak to self-care and empowerment. 
 
On her spare time, Joey enjoys playing animal crossing, test-baking for her friends, and catching up on her sleep!

Hello everyone, I'm Milad! I am in my 4th year of Kinesiology, and I am working as a Course Representative Coordinator as well as a Peer Tutor for KAHSSO. The colleges have helped me out so much early on in my undergraduate career, so it's an Fahima is in her third year at York university where sh is getting a bachelors in health studies with a specialization in management.

She has previously worked with CCSC as a course representative and peer mentor. She has also been a peer tutor with the NATSAID department at York university. She hopes to help students implement positive change in their life through health and wellness to become the best version of themselves. In her free time Fahima loves to travel, craft, bake and be outdoors.

Hello! My name is Alexa and I’m in my second year of Hello! My name is Abhi and I'm a second year student studying Kinesiology and Health Science! I have always been a strong advocate for prioritizing health and wellbeing. In my role as Peer Health & Wellness Education Coordinator, my goal is to design programming that will help students across the Faculty of Health improve their wellbeing.

I have been in this role with Colleges since May 2021 and I have had an amazing experience delivering Health and Wellness programming online. I can't wait for our return in person!

Darren (he/him) is a mature undergraduate student completing his second year at York. He is a psychology major who plans to become a psychotherapist. He is a former Course Representative and currently volunteers as an Active Bystander through The Centre for Sexual Violence Response, Support, and Education and a Workshop Content Coordinator with Luminate, a peer-run student mental health conference.

Mohamed Elsayed Elghobashy

Mohamed is a third-year Kinesiology and Health Science Student. He started working with CCSC as a Course Representative during F/W 2019-2020. He then continued as a Coordinator for the Course Representative Program during F/W 2020-2021. Mohamed is now one of the Leadership Coaches with the LEAD Team. Mohamed continues to do work in supporting, representing, and advocating for students within the Faculty of Health and Calumet and Stong Colleges Colleges through his many other roles. 
 
In his free time, Mohamed enjoys watching Sci-Fi movies, reading books (preferably dystopian novels), baking, and debating political/social issues! 

Leadership Coach

Parmin Rahimpoor-Marnani

Parmin is a fourth year Kinesiology and Health Science student. She started her involvements with CCSC as Course Rep. in Winter 2020. She then became a Course Rep. Coordinator for Fall/Winter 2020-2021 and is currently working as a Leadership Coach with CCSC.

She is also a Peer Mentoring Coordinator with the Kinesiology and Health Science Student Organization (KAHSSO) and a Co-founder of the Undergraduate Health Research Exploration (UHRE), an Agents of Change initiative and a new division within KAHSSO.

In summary, Parmin enjoys mentoring, interacting with and advocating for Calumet & Stong and Faculty of Health students through various roles! 
When she’s not studying or at a Zoom meeting, Parmin enjoys reading, staying physically active and playing the piano. Skydiving and bungee jumping are top on her bucket list as well!

Parisa Zargham Boroujeni

Parisa is a fourth Kinesiology and Health Science student. She started working with CCSC team as the Alumni Fellows and Career Exploration Coordinator in summer 2019. She then continued her involvement as a Course Representative Coordinator in fall/winter 2019-2020, and a PASS Leader in summer 2020. Now, she is one of the Leadership Coaches. 

During her free-time, Parisa likes to cook and bake. She also plays the harmonica and writes in a journal.

Gary joined the CCSC Team in Sept 2017 as a PASS leader and Jedi Apprentice. He is entering his final year in Psychology with a goal of attending graduate school for clinical psychology. He prides himself on helping students excel by taking a challenging topic (Statistics) and making it engaging and entertaining.  
 
“My goal as a PASS leader is to get students to enjoy themselves and laugh while they learn. Hopefully that helps them foster a genuine passion for learning”

I am a third year Specialized Honours Psychology student at York University. I aspire to become a clinical psychologist, conducting research on substance use and addiction.

I also hope to practice psychotherapy, in my own future clinical practice. I am currently a Peer Mentor with UPSA, as well as a PASS Leader and a Course Representative with Calumet and Stong Colleges.

My name is Victoria Celio. I am currently in the Specialized Honours Psychology program.

After completing my undergraduate degree, my goal is to apply to the Quantitative Methods program at York University. Although I have enjoyed many of the events hosted by Stong and Calumet, such as the paint nights, this is my first official position within the colleges. 

As a PASS leader, my goal is to help make statistics less intimidating for students using a variety of innovative and unique facilitation techniques. In my free time, I enjoy painting and playing soccer.

Hi everyone, my name is Nick and I'm a 3rd year Kinesiology student.

My involvement with the colleges includes peer tutoring for KAHSSO, being a research assistant for the financial wellness project and this year I'm a PASS leader for Kine 2011 and Kine 3012!

I hope to be a high school teacher or go into research when I graduate. Some of my interests include lifting, gaming, listening to music and hanging out with friends!

In terms of my involvement with the Colleges, I am a PASS Leader, Peer Mentor, and Course Representative. In the future, I hope to become a clinical developmental psychologist, since I am interested in understanding and assisting children with developmental, neurological, and learning disabilities!

Aside from school, I am a proud dog mom and animal lover. During my free time, I love listening to music, exercising, and immersing myself in nature.

Ursula is a 3rd year Psychology major in the Faculty of Health, with a particular interest in statistics and data analysis. She enjoys making and listening to music and poetry, and loves learning new languages and playing sports.

She has been participating in Calumet and Stong Colleges' workshops and community since her first year, and is now looking forward to the opportunity to connect and collaborate with the PASS team as Coordinator.

My name is Abigail Ramos and I am currently in my third year of specialized honours psychology degree. This is my first time being a PASS leader for Calumet and Stong Colleges.

I am so excited and honoured to have been hired for this position as I love to learn and enjoy helping others. I'm looking forward to the unique experiences this job brings me and getting out of my comfort zone. 
 
I have love of photography and reading. I spend most of my time reading books and I am currently working on expanding my large bookshelf. I also love capturing the beauty of nature and life.

Hey everyone, my name is Amos Tang, and I am in my third year in Kinesiology. I am so happy to be a part of the CCSC Team this year as a PASS Leader for KINE2031 and KINE3030. My goal as a PASS Leader is to foster an interactive community that finds enjoyment in the learning process and achieves academic success.

I like to read, jog, and rock climb in my spare time.

Hi, my name is Kelly Ong! I am currently enrolled in my second year of the Bachelors of Education Program. I recently graduated with a Double Major in Psychology and Political Science. I was a previous Course Representative. In 2019, I started working as a Peer Mentoring Coordinator.

Over the past summer, I joined the Peer Tutoring team as the Peer Tutoring Coordinator. I am interested in helping students with meeting their potential by connecting them with opportunities that might support their academic, social, and professional goals. I am also interested in skating, hiking, canoeing, travelling, learning new languages, comedy, painting, and anime.

Hi, my name is Serah Seo and I am a 4th year Psychology student. I have worked with Calumet and Stong Colleges since my first year at York as a Class Representative, then as a Peer Tutor Coordinator, and currently, as a Peer Mentor Coordinator.

I am passionate about supporting fellow students in their unique personal and academic growth. My goal is to continuously learn from my colleagues and classmates, and to become a leader who embraces and channels individual differences into team synergy.
