Awards

Winning an award can strengthen your resumé, provide you with additional financial support and widen your network. In addition to the awards and bursaries specifically for Founders College students, there are numerous University-wide scholarships, awards, prizes and bursaries available. Check out the opportunities and how to access these awards below. Visit the Student Financial Services website for further information.

  1. Fill out your Student Financial Profile in the first week of every term. It is a mandatory step in being considered for most awards.
  2. Determine which awards you’re eligible for.
  3. Apply for those awards that require an application.

Awards offered by Founders College


Arthur Haberman Award

History and Humanities students eligible

This award is made annually to a Founders College student majoring in History and/or Humanities who has achieved the highest cumulative GPA in the major department and/or division. No student may receive the award more than once. In order to qualify for this award, students must have attained a minimum GPA of 6.0 (B) in their major department and/or division.


Charles Edward Rathé Scholarship

All Founders students eligible

Awarded to a Founders College student entering year 2 of study with the highest grade point average on the completion of 30 credits in their year 1 of full-time study. The recipient must register in a minimum of 24 credits in year 2 of study


The Enrica Jemma Glickman Award

Humanities and Italian Studies students eligible

This award will provide assistance to an Honours undergraduate Founders College student who has an overall cumulative grade point average of 7.0 at the end of year 3 majoring in either Humanities or Italian Studies. The recipient must be a Canadian citizen and demonstrate financial need.


Founders Cock & Bull Scholarship

All Founders students eligible

Awarded to a Founders College student with the highest cumulative grade point average on the completion of 10 courses (at least 60 credits) in the preceding two academic years. Students must be registering in five courses (30 credits) the following September.


Founders College Council 50th Anniversary Award

All Founders students eligible

This award will be awarded to students affiliated with Founders College who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons and residents of Ontario who demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to a continuing student with a minimum of 24 credits who has a GPA of 6.0 (B), and/or who has demonstrated commitment to the Founders College community.


Lola Hayman Alumni Bursary Award

All Faculty of LA&PS students eligible

A bursary, established to honour the memory of Mrs. Lola Hayman, is awarded annually to a Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies student who has been a member of Founders College for at least one year. The award will be given to a student who has demonstrated a high level of commitment to the college, has a cumulative GPA of 6.0 (B) and demonstrates financial need.

Malcolm Jackson Award

Given to one or two students in recognition of outstanding contribution to Founders College life.


Outstanding Contribution to Founders College Life by a First Year Student

Given to two first year students based on outstanding contribution to Founders College life.


Robert Thompson Award

Presented to a graduating student for their participation and commitment to Founders College in their undergraduate years.


Joanne Huy Award

Awarded for an Outstanding Contribution to the Founders College Community by a Founders College Alumni.


Marlon Gullusci Award

Awarded for an Outstanding Contribution to the York University Community by a Founders College Student.


Athletes of the Year

Awarded to two students in recognition of participation and excellence in intramural sport.


Rookie Athletes of the Year

Awarded to two first-year students in recognition of participation and excellence in intramural sport.


Justin Moutier Award

Awarded to a graduating student in recognition of participation and excellence in intramural sport throughout their undergraduate career.


Outstanding Contribution College Life by a Student Club

Presented to one or two clubs within Founders College for their outstanding contribution to Founders College life.
