McLaughlin College's outdoor spaces are the perfect complements to our offices, classrooms, common rooms and student lounge. We invite you and your peers to make use of these exterior settings - whether for study sessions, get-togethers or for light strolls between your classes. Learn more about these spaces below.
Our Fellows Garden is located outside the northwest end of the College grounds. It is a quiet space that is below the pathway next to Founders College that leads to the York University tennis courts and the front entrances to the College. A sheltered green space that is surrounded on one side by shrubs and flowers with picnic tables to allow an opportunity, the weather permitting, to enjoy your lunch, to read, to study outdoors, or simply to meet and chat with friends. This outdoor space can also be used for receptions, barbecues, and other social events and gatherings.
A unique feature of McLaughlin College is its Courtyard, located in the very centre of the College itself. The Courtyard features a lovely garden of trees, scrubs, bushes, and flowers, along with benches and a walkway. This special open College space can be used by students, faculty, staff, alumni, and Fellows to enjoy a pleasant quiet setting at the very heart of the College. The Courtyard is used seasonally for Orientation, receptions, and other social events and can be booked through the Office of the College Head.
