Stong College Fall 2022 Academic Orientation

Attending Academic Orientation will help you connect with fellow students and learn about your academic program by meeting with faculty members, peer leaders and staff. In addition, you will also learn about all of the resources available to you at Stong College and York University to help you succeed!

Academic Orientation will be held from Friday, August 19, 2022 to Thursday, September 1, 2022, and is divided according to your academic program/major.

All incoming students are assigned a Peer Mentor. To participate in Academic Orientation, you will receive an email from Stong College with your assigned Academic Orientation session date and registration form. A confirmation email along with a Zoom link to access the session will be sent following registration.

10:50 - 11:20 AM or 11:20 – 11:50 AM	Icebreakers & Tips from Upper Year Students	Breakout Rooms	Students engage in icebreaker activities and learn tips for success from upper-year students and/or mentors. Students may also have a chance to meet a Calumet or Stong College community member including a professor, grad student, or alumni.
11:20 - 11:25 AM or 11:50 - 11:55 PM	Break	Main Room	Students will be given a 5-minute bio-break.
11:25 AM - 12:10 PM or 11:55 AM - 12:40 PM	Academic Honesty, College Resources & Student Clubs	Main Room	Students are familiarized with Academic Honesty & Integrity policies at York University. They are welcomed by College Heads, Stong College Student Government, Faculty of Health Student Caucus, Student Clubs, and introduced to Student Success Programs.
12:10 - 12:25 PM or 12:40 - 12:55 PM	Undergraduate Program Director (UPD)	Main Room	Students hear from their Undergraduate Program Director (UPD) about their academic program requirements, expectations, and academic honesty. Students will have a chance to ask questions.
12:25 - 12:40 PM or 12:55 - 1:10 PM	Student Panel	Main Room	2-3 student panelists will talk about their experiences at York U/Faculty of Health and answer questions.
12:40 - 1:00 PM or 1:10 - 1:30 PM	Wrap-Up	Main Room	Attendees participate in one final activity and are provided with a chance to give feedback on how we can improve. Orientation ends with closing remarks.
