2020 & 2021 Alumni Ceremonies

We are looking forward to welcoming back all graduates who celebrated at virtual ceremonies back to campus and holding an in-person Alumni ceremony to celebrate your graduation.

To help us plan, all 2020 and 2021 graduates were sent an email in late-January with a link to confirm their interest in attending a ceremony, in order to receive an invitation in the spring. This email was sent to your preferred email address on your alumni profile. To update your contact information or change your communication preferences, visit the Alumni and Friends Website.

All invitations have been sent and the RSVP deadline has now passed.

Your ceremony date and time will be determined by the Faculty you will be graduating from as well as your degree and major. Use our Alumni Ceremony Search tool below to determine your ceremony.

If you confirmed your interest in attending a ceremony, you will have received an electronic invitation. A separate email with a link to log in to the MarchingOrder platform in order to RSVP was sent to you shortly after you received your invitation.

All invitations have been sent and the RSVP deadline has now passed. If you have received an invitation but missed the deadline, you may register and pay the $52 robe rental fee on the day of your ceremony at the Grad check-in desk. Registration is subject to the availability of robes, please arrive 90 minutes ahead of your ceremony. Please note that if you did not receive an invitation, you will not be able to register on the day of. Use the alumni ceremony search function to determine your ceremony (this is for 2020 & 2021 alumni only).

If you have completed your RSVP on MarchingOrder but have not proceeded to purchase a robe rental yet, please note that you will need to do so in order to complete your RSVP as academic regalia is required to cross the stage. See robe rentals below for more information.

Academic regalia (robe, hood, and cap) is required to cross the stage. Your robe and hood must be rented online prior to the ceremony and you must purchase a robe rental for each ceremony you plan to attend. The robe rental confirmation page acts as your ticket to your ceremony. All 2020 & 2021 graduates were sent a mortarboard cap and tassel in their Graduation Package along with their diploma. You will need to either bring the mortarboard cap and tassel that was sent to you or purchase one on site.

RSVPs without an associated robe rental order will be considered incomplete with the exception of those who previously purchased regalia from our academic regalia supplier, Harcourts, and will be wearing their purchased regalia as opposed to renting.

The RSVP and robe rental deadline has now passed. If you have RSVP'd but forgot to purchase your robe rental, you can purchase a robe rental on site at the check-in desk. Rentals are subject to availability, please arrive 2 hours before your ceremony.

Each graduate will be allotted 2 guest tickets. Please note that the graduate does not require a guest ticket to attend their ceremony. The robe rental confirmation page acts as a student ticket to your ceremony.

Tickets must be downloaded from the links provided at the completion of the RSVP. Graduates may save the PDF document or e-mail the tickets directly to their guests. All tickets must be printed on a separate page of white paper. Each guest requires a ticket to be admitted and each ticket has a barcode and is unique.

If you require additional tickets, please complete the Extra Ticket Request form. Requests will be reviewed and decisions will be communicated no later than Friday, May 27, 2022.  A request does not guarantee that you will be granted extra tickets, we recommend that you do not make plans until you have received a decision from the Convocation Office.

York's mask protocol will remain in place until further notice. At this time, all attendees will be required to wear a mask at your ceremony in accordance with this protocol.

York will pause its COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate effective May 1, 2022 (May 4, 2022 for Osgoode Hall Law School students, faculty and staff). The requirement for daily health screening for those coming to our campuses is similarly paused effective May 1 (May 4, 2022 for Osgoode Hall Law School students, faculty and staff). However, community members should continue to monitor their health and not attend campus if they are feeling unwell. More information on York’s COVID-19 response can be found on the Better Together website.

To ensure the safety of graduates and their guests, ceremonies will follow all York, municipal and provincial health and safety measures. In the event that it is necessary for the University to reinstate requirements for Proof of Vaccination, these protocols will apply to all those attending.
