2022 Spring Convocation Ceremonies

Taking part in your convocation ceremony is a memorable occasion and we strongly encourage all graduating students to attend and celebrate this milestone with family and friends.

The information on this page is in relation to ceremonies that will be held for February and June 2022 graduates. If you are a past graduate from 2020 or 2021 who celebrated virtually, please visit the Alumni Ceremonies page.

Your ceremony will be determined by the Faculty you will be graduating from as well as your degree and major. Use our 2022 Spring Ceremony Search tool below to determine your ceremony.

If you are potentially eligible to graduate, then you will receive an electronic invitation to Convocation. The invitation will ask you to RSVP.

Completing the RSVP form will let the University know you are attending your ceremony and will ensure your robe rental is arranged. When you RSVP, you will also be provided with guest tickets to your convocation ceremony.

The deadline to RSVP has now passed. If you are a June 2022 graduand or a February 2022 graduate but missed the deadline, you may register and pay the $52 robe rental fee on the day of your ceremony at the Grad check-in desk. Registration is subject to the availability of robes, please arrive 90 minutes before your ceremony. Use the spring ceremony search function to determine your ceremony (this is for June 2022 and Feb 2022 grads only).

Each graduand will be allotted 2 guest tickets. Please note that the graduand does not require a guest ticket to attend their convocation. The robe rental confirmation page acts as a student ticket to convocation.

Tickets must be downloaded from the links provided at the completion of the RSVP. Graduands may save the PDF document in order to e-mail the tickets to their guests. All tickets must be printed on a separate page of 8 ½” x 11” white paper. Each guest requires a ticket to be admitted and each ticket has a barcode and is unique.

If you require additional tickets, please complete the Extra Ticket Request form. Requests will be reviewed and decisions will be communicated no later than Friday, June 3, 2022.  A request does not guarantee that you will be granted extra tickets, we recommend that you do not make plans until you have received a decision from the Convocation Office.

York's mask protocol will remain in place until further notice. At this time, all attendees will be required to wear a mask at convocation in accordance with this protocol.

York will pause its COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate effective May 1, 2022 (May 4, 2022 for Osgoode Hall Law School students, faculty and staff). The requirement for daily health screening for those coming to our campuses is similarly paused effective May 1 (May 4, 2022 for Osgoode Hall Law School students, faculty and staff). However, community members should continue to monitor their health and not attend campus if they are feeling unwell. More information on York’s COVID-19 response can be found on the Better Together website.

To ensure the safety of graduands and their guests, convocation ceremonies will follow all York, municipal and provincial health and safety measures. In the event that it is necessary for the University to reinstate requirements for Proof of Vaccination, these protocols will apply to all those attending Convocation.

Please note: Convocation and related events are Webcast live, videotaped, photographed and recorded. Your use of a ticket to Convocation confirms your willingness to appear in Webcasts, videotapes, photographs and recordings, and releases York University from all liability in connection therewith.
