Speaker: Dr. Nausheen Anwar, Professor of City and Regional Planning, Institute of Business Administration, Karachi; Director, Karachi Urban Lab
Topic: The Politics of Extreme Heat & Displacement in South Asia: A View from Urban Pakistan
Nausheen H. Anwar is Director, Karachi Urban Lab & Professor City & Regional Planning, Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi. She is also Urban Climate Resilience Lead and Principal Researcher, IIED's Human Settlements research group, London, United Kingdom. Nausheen received her PhD from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation (GSAPP), Columbia University. Her research focuses on the politics of urban planning, infrastructural development, and climate change. Nausheen has published in journals such as Antipode, Urban Studies, South Asian History and Culture, and Political Geography; and contributed to online publications such as MIT Technology Review Pakistan, Somatosphere, and Huffington Post. She is the recipient of grants from IDRC, DFID, ESRC-AHRC, GCRF, National University Singapore and Harvard University, as well as teaching and research excellence awards from the IBA.
