Inuit Wellbeing, Tuberculosis Prevention, and Climate Resilience in Circumpolar Regions
This session brings together speakers from Nunavut and Kalaallit Nunaat/Greenland (TBD) to explore Inuit wellbeing, including community and governance responses to tuberculosis, mental health and suicide prevention, food security and country food sovereignty, and broader health and climate-related challenges and solutions across the circumpolar North.
The Canadian government and Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami committed to eliminating tuberculosis in Inuit Nunangat by 2030. That goal is off track. At the same time, the Arctic is warming faster than anywhere else on Earth, compounding the health, food security, and infrastructure pressures Inuit communities already face. This session brings together practitioners and researchers working directly on these issues to share what solutions look like on the ground, and where the gaps remain, across the circumpolar North.
