Graduate Student Scholar
Lathika Laguwaran is a PhD student in Global Health at York University and a Dahdaleh Global Health Graduate Scholar in the Faculty of Health. Her doctoral research, supervised by Prof. Steven J. Hoffman and Prof. Mathieu J.P. Poirier, examines sex- and gender-related factors associated with smokeless tobacco use in South Asia.
Lathika holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Saskatchewan and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto. She serves as Director of Operations at the Global Strategy Lab, where she oversees the lab's daily operations and strategic initiatives. Beyond her doctoral studies, Lathika serves as a Board Member of Human Rights Internet, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to awarding small grants on human rights initiatives in Canada.
Lathika has been recognized with multiple competitive merit-based awards, including the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS), the Manulife Graduate Scholarship, and the Dahdaleh Global Health Graduate Scholarship.
