Job Title: Global Health Special Projects Research Assistant 2

Job description
Under the supervision of Professor Tarra Penney, the Global Health Special Projects Research Assistant 2 (for up to 6 hours per week) will:
- Provide administrative and logistical support for the Institute and its members and projects
- Solicit/collect, curate, and edit content for the DI website’s resources page and reports
- Take and edit photos of various DI activities e.g., events and DI resources
- Support ‘photo’ day(s) for members
- Organize inventory and databases e.g., tracking lending library and physical receipts
- Complete other duties as assigned
Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:
- Ensure that all records are fully completed/up to date in various databases related to internal and travel funding, credit card use, etc.
- Conduct monthly reviews to ensure there is sufficient documentation
- Conduct monthly reviews to ensure all tasks are assigned corrected and submitted
- Acting as a liaison between research participants and York IT
Qualifications
- Current undergraduate York student. Applicants from diverse programs of study are encouraged. - Demonstrated interest in global health.
- Demonstrated skills, experience, and familiarity with conducting literature reviews.
- Demonstrated knowledge of research methods (quantitative and/or qualitative and/or integrative).
- Demonstrated excellent analytic skills for understanding, sorting, and categorizing complex information. Skills and resourcefulness in drawing mind-maps and tabulating information is an asset.
- Demonstrated note-taking, journal-keeping, and filing skills.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills: professional written and interactive correspondence, public speaking and presentation.
- Demonstrated excellent computer skills (word processing, email, database, spreadsheets, forms, and slides; facility with Office 365 Apps). WordPress editing skills are an asset. Social media communication skills are an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including international and cross-cultural communication. Ability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team with researchers, students, and staff.
- Demonstrated an eagerness to learn, support, and take on initiative.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
