Job description
Under the supervision of Professor Margaret MacDonald, the Global Health Special Projects Research Assistant 2 (for up to 11 hours per week) will:
- Attend and actively participate in a weekly transdisciplinary global health seminar series
- Provide events support including administrative and logistical support on research projects
- Collect and organize data on project-related expenses
- Support researchers and complete other duties as assigned
- Conduct interviews with researchers to create resources to help with project-related expenses
- Develop and maintain databases related to research projects
- Support the Critical Perspectives in Global Health Research steering committee
Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:
- Gathering data from Institute researchers and staff
- Maintaining databases using Airtable software, consistently updating the databases to reflect new data and information
- Attending and participating in meetings
- Keeping clear records of grant/funding decisions during creation and application process
- Researching funding opportunities and updating members and staff when new opportunities arise
- Keeping clear records and collecting data on actively funded projects
Qualifications
- Current undergraduate York student. Applicants from diverse programs of study are encouraged. - Demonstrated interest in global health.
- Demonstrated excellent analytic skills for understanding, sorting, and categorizing complex information.
- Demonstrated note-taking, journal-keeping, and filing skills.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills: professional written and interactive correspondence, public speaking and presentation.
- Demonstrated excellent computer skills (word processing, email, database, spreadsheets, forms, and slides; facility with Office 365 Apps). WordPress editing skills are an asset. Social media communication skills are an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including international and cross-cultural communication. Ability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team with researchers, students, and staff.
- Demonstrated an eagerness to learn, support, and take on initiative.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
