Hosted by the Government of Brazil, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the conference convened global leaders to advance equitable climate action in health systems. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"761\" height=\"467\" src=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/dighr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/181\/2025\/08\/2025-Global-Conference-on-Climate-and-Health_2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14537\" style=\"width:900px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/dighr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/181\/2025\/08\/2025-Global-Conference-on-Climate-and-Health_2.png 761w, https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/dighr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/181\/2025\/08\/2025-Global-Conference-on-Climate-and-Health_2-300x184.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 761px) 100vw, 761px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><br>AI4PEP was selected as a featured initiative in the Ideas Lab, a curated platform for showcasing innovative, scalable solutions to climate-sensitive health challenges. Our project titled, \u2018AI for Climate-Resilient Health Systems across the Global South,\u2019\u2019 demonstrated how Southern-led AI innovations are transforming public health responses across more than 20 countries in the Global South.<br>\u201cAs climate threats intensify, AI4PEP is proving that the Global South is not just vulnerable, it is visionary,\u201d said Prof. <strong>Jude Dzevela Kong<\/strong>, Executive Director of AI4PEP. \u201cOur community-driven tools are saving lives and building resilience where it\u2019s needed most.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AI4PEP\u2019s interdisciplinary network of AI experts, researchers, public health professionals, and community leaders has co-developed real-time disease surveillance systems, early warning tools, and outbreak response mechanisms for diseases such as malaria, dengue, cholera, and tuberculosis. These innovations are grounded in local contexts and aligned with the Bel\u00e9m Health Action Plan, contributing concrete inputs to its draft and helping define pathways to elevate health as a core pillar of climate action ahead of COP30.
