Note: applicants must be eligible to participate in the Research @ York (RAY) program, see&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sfs.yorku.ca\/work-study-programs\/how-to-apply-for-ray-positions\">eligibility criteria<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hourly wage:<\/strong> $20 per hour<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hours per week:<\/strong> 10 hours per week<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Start date:<\/strong> April 27, 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>End date:<\/strong> August 31, 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Job description<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the supervision of Dr. Mathieu Poirier, the Global Legal Epidemiology Research Assistant 1 (for up to 10 hours per week) will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support ongoing work on a global legal epidemiology study evaluating the gendered effects of global tobacco control interventions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support grant applications, administrative duties, and knowledge translation activities related to global legal epidemiology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend and actively participate in Global Strategy Lab meetings and seminars.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Searching for academic literature, and extracting and synthesizing information to support manuscript development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Updating structured and annotated bibliographic reviews of existing literature <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting statistical analyses using quasi-experimental designs (i.e., time series analyses) <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Managing sources using Zotero reference management software<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Supporting the presentation of findings to internal and external audiences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Type of research experience the student(s) will receive:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Critical thinking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conducting literature review; Creating annotated bibliography; Tabulating data;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preparing presentations and written outputs of research; Editing and formatting drafts; Correspondence with partners and workshop invitees;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professional communication, including international and cross-cultural professional interaction and communication<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Type of training and support that will be provided to the student(s) in carrying out these research activities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Methodological training on data analysis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Subject matter training on global health<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regular status meetings with your supervising full-time faculty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Qualifications<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Current undergraduate York student (we encourage applicants from diverse programs of study)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated interest in global health and tobacco control<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated skills, experience, and familiarity with data collection and literature review<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience working with people from a variety of backgrounds\/cultures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent communication skills: professional email\/phone correspondence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent computer skills (word processing, email, database management, spreadsheets)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrates an eagerness to learn and take on initiative<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrates organizational and time management skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team with researchers, students, and staff<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to read and\/or write in other languages would be considered an asset.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application materials<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cover letter <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resume<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have any questions, please email <a href=\"mailto:mathieu.poirier@globalstrategylab.org\">Mathieu Poirier<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Job ID: 135740 Job Title: Global Legal Epidemiology RAY 1 Application Deadline: Sunday, April 5, 2026 @ 11:59 p.m. ET Applications are only accepted through the Career Centre.
