Under the direction of the Director, Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research (DIGHR), and day-to-day supervision by the Knowledge Dissemination Strategist, DIGHR, the Communications Assistant designs and writes both print and digital communications material.
\n
\nBasic Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Design creative materials to support research & operational projects<\/li>\n
- Develop & schedule twitter & facebook posts<\/li>\n
- Update the primary DIGHR website. This includes writing News posts and Events descriptions<\/li>\n
- Update internal activity database<\/li>\n
- Design communications material & conduct outreach to promote DIGHR events<\/li>\n
- Stay in regular contact with supervisors and meet regularly to keep all parties informed<\/li>\n
- Act as a representative of the DIGHR at events as assigned<\/li>\n
- Complete other duties as assigned<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\nEducation & Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Current undergraduate York student (we encourage applicants from diverse programs of study)<\/li>\n
- Experience writing in a professional capacity, including copywriting for web and print<\/li>\n
- Demonstrated knowledge of general design principles<\/li>\n
- Experience with current design software, particularly Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign<\/li>\n
- Experience with social media, particularly Facebook & Twitter<\/li>\n
- Experience with content management systems, particularly WordPress<\/li>\n
- Basic knowledge of and experience in HTML and CSS an asset<\/li>\n
- Experience with Airtable an asset<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Skills & Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n- Strong writing skills<\/li>\n
- Experience developing communication materials according to brand guidelines<\/li>\n
- Excellent communication skills: professional email\/phone correspondence, public speaking and presentation proficiency<\/li>\n
- Experience working with people from a variety of backgrounds\/cultures<\/li>\n
- Excellent computer skills (word processing, email, database management, spreadsheets)<\/li>\n
- Demonstrates an eagerness to learn and take on initiative<\/li>\n
- Demonstrates organizational and time management skills<\/li>\n
