Go to the <a href=\"http:\/\/careers.yorku.ca\/online-system\/\">Career Centre portal<\/a> and search for the posting with the Job ID listed above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hourly wage:<\/strong> $18 per hour<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hours per week:<\/strong> 35 hours per week<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Start date:<\/strong> May 1, 2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>End date:<\/strong> September 1, 2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Job description<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the supervision of Dr. Shital Desai, the RAY student will support the \u201cChronic Pain Management\u201d project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Design appropriate instruments, methods, for the data collection<\/li><li>Collect data using observation methods&nbsp;<\/li><li>Analyse data using Noldus Observer XT<\/li><li>Assist in preparing a manuscript; Assist in documenting the methodology and findings.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Recruitment of participants with chronic pain for data collection<\/li><li>Collect data with the participants in SaTS lab<\/li><li>Appropriate storage of data for analysis<\/li><li>Use of Noldus Observer for analysis of emotions mapping for people with chronic pain<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Type of research experience the student(s) will receive:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Critical thinking<\/li><li>Data collection using Design Research methods; analysis software<\/li><li>Preparing presentations and written outputs of research; Editing and formatting drafts;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Professional communication skills<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Type of training and support that will be provided to the student(s) in carrying out these research activities:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Training on Design Research Method of Observation studies (both qualitative and quantitative)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Use of Biopac sensor for quantitative data collection<\/li><li>Data analysis using Noldus Observer XT&nbsp;<\/li><li>Regular status meetings with your supervising full-time faculty<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Qualifications<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Current undergraduate York student. <\/li><li>Demonstrated interest in Design Research methods.<\/li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of research methods (quantitative and\/or qualitative and\/or integrative).<\/li><li>Demonstrated excellent analytic skills for understanding, sorting, and categorizing complex information. Skills and resourcefulness in drawing mind-maps and tabulating information is an asset.<\/li><li>Demonstrated note-taking, journal-keeping, and filing skills.<\/li><li>Demonstrated excellent communication skills: professional written and interactive correspondence, public speaking and presentation.<\/li><li>Demonstrated excellent computer skills (word processing, email, database, spreadsheets, forms, and slides; facility with Office 365 Apps). WordPress editing skills are an asset. Social media communication skills are an asset.<\/li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills, including international and cross-cultural communication. Ability and willingness to work both independently and as part of a team with researchers, students, and staff.<\/li><li>Demonstrated an eagerness to learn, support, and take on initiative.<\/li><li>Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applicants from diverse programs of study are encouraged.
