Go to the <a href=\"http:\/\/careers.yorku.ca\/online-system\/\">Career Centre portal<\/a> and search for the posting with the Job ID listed above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hourly wage:<\/strong> $17.50 per hour<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hours per week:<\/strong> 6 hours per week<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Start date:<\/strong> September 5, 2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>End date:<\/strong> April 26, 2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Job description<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the supervision of Dr. Orbinski, the research dissemination and design assistant (6 hours per week) will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Assist with all planning, editing and production stages for a new annual research publication by the Dahdaleh Institute<\/li><li>Solicit, curate, and edit content and images<\/li><li>Design attractive online and print layouts<\/li><li>Conduct interviews and collect data<\/li><li>Support authors<\/li><li>Attend, actively participate in, and keep detailed notes from editorial meetings<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Specific research activities the student(s) will be engaged in:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Creating and maintaining a production schedule<\/li><li>Writing and editing copy<\/li><li>Interviewing contributors<\/li><li>Gathering data from Institute researchers and staff<\/li><li>Designing infographics<\/li><li>Sourcing images and photographing researchers<\/li><li>Researching print and online publication options<\/li><li>Design and layout<\/li><li>Attending and participating in meetings<\/li><li>Keeping clear records of publication processes and decisions<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Type of research experience the student(s) will receive:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"color: initial; font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, &quot;Segoe UI&quot;, Roboto, Oxygen-Sans, Ubuntu, Cantarell, &quot;Helvetica Neue&quot;, sans-serif;\">Critical thinking<\/span><\/li><li>Knowledge mobilization<\/li><li>Academic editing of drafts including substantive, stylistic, and copy editing<\/li><li>Formatting and layout of print and online research material<\/li><li>Conducting interviews and collecting data<\/li><li>Data visualization and corresponding software<\/li><li>Correspondence with researchers<\/li><li>Professional communication, including international and cross-cultural professional interaction and communication<\/li><li>Project management throughout publication cycle<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Type of training and support that will be provided to the student(s) in carrying out these research activities:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Methodological training on data analysis<\/li><li>Subject matter training on global health<\/li><li>Regular status meetings with your supervising full-time faculty<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Qualifications<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Current undergraduate York student. Applicants from diverse programs of study are encouraged. York University is committed to a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment.<\/li><li>Demonstrated interest in global health.<\/li><li>Demonstrated skills, experience, and familiarity with conducting literature reviews.<\/li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of research methods (quantitative and\/or qualitative and\/or integrative).<\/li><li>Demonstrated excellent analytic skills for understanding, sorting, and categorizing complex information. Skills and resourcefulness in drawing mind-maps and tabulating information is an asset.<\/li><li>Demonstrated note-taking, journal-keeping, and filing skills.<\/li><li>Demonstrated excellent communication skills: professional written and interactive correspondence, public speaking and presentation.<\/li><li>Demonstrated excellent computer skills (word processing, email, database, spreadsheets, forms, and slides; facility with Office 365 Apps). WordPress editing skills are an asset. Social media communication skills are an asset.<\/li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills, including international and cross-cultural communication.
