Website Tagging & SEO - Summer Update

Special thanks to all website managers who have completed their tagging or are in the process. We want to get measurement of the community completion rate, and for those that were aiming to complete by the end of summer, how it is progressing. As shared last year, the new tagging structure has been implemented for all York University websites including those not on the York 2020 WordPress theme. The tagging structure is aimed at helping classify and codify the types of information we present to all our key stakeholders and improve internal search experience Facilitate non-hierarchical discovery across the network of York campuses, faculties, and organizations through tags. Included in the tagging project was tips and insight into creating content that was easily identified by search engine website crawlers, with a goal to enhance our overall content discoverability. Some of the topics covers included: heading and body copy writing, page organization, image tagging and sizing, Yoast plugin updates as well as how all these work together to improve internal and external search.
