Referrals

There are several different ways a visitor can find your webpage:

  • search engines like Google, Bing or Yahoo!;
  • internal searches once on a site;
  • typing a page's url directly into a browser; or
  • following a link from another page or site (including social networks).

Referral traffic reports allow you to track where your visitors are coming from.

How to find the Referrals report

Click through Acquisition > All Traffic > Referrals.

How do I find data specific to my site?

  • 'Source' is the page that sent the visitor to your page.
  • 'Landing Page' is the first page the visitor when they came to the site
  1. Begin with 'Source' as your primary dimension (this is the default)
  2. Click on 'Secondary Dimension' and add 'Landing Page' (you can click through the list to find it, or begin typing it in to the search field to narrow options
  3. Do an 'Advanced' search of the data displayed

    using the following options:
    1st drop down: Include
    2nd drop down: Landing Page
    3rd drop down: Containing
    4th field: your website url, eg. analytics.info.yorku.ca
  4. Click on 'Apply' and data specific to your site should now display
