This option exists within the current degree requirements for students who are admitted to the BEd program at Glendon, and will allow students to use their excellent\u00a0<strong>French language proficiency<\/strong>\u00a0and their deep understanding of\u00a0<strong>francophone cultures<\/strong>. A significant portion of the courses are delivered in French and practicum is completed in French as a Second Language programs in Anglophone school boards.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group border-lg border-primary p-4\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">Students can prepare to teach French as a Second Language in any one of the following teaching levels:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2021\/09\/primary-junior-courses.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Primary-Junior<\/strong>&nbsp;(JK to Grade 6)<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2021\/09\/Junior-Intermediate-courses.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Junior-Intermediate<\/strong>&nbsp;(Grade 4 to Grade 10)<\/a> or<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/28\/2021\/09\/Intermediate-Senior-courses.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Intermediate-Senior<\/strong>&nbsp;(Grade 7 to Grade 12)<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">Students who complete this option will earn a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree. Students studying at the Junior-Intermediate and Intermediate-Senior levels must have French as a Second Language as the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oct.ca\/members\/know-your-college\/your-qualifications\">first teachable subject<\/a>. Students in the Primary-Junior division will also receive a qualification from the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oct.ca\/-\/media\/PDF\/Additional%20Qualifications\/EN\/Schedule%20D\/Part%20I\/i_french_as_a_second_language_2016_e.PDF\">French as a Second Language<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:51px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-083ac7165662be15a61d560d4d1ed496\" style=\"font-size:26px\"><strong>Concurrent Bachelor of Education<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>In order to complete this option, students must:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\">Be admitted to and complete all of the requirements for both an undergraduate degree at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glendon.yorku.ca\/futurestudents\/academic-programs\/undergraduate-programs\/\">Glendon<\/a><em> and<\/em> a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/edu\/students\/bed-concurrent\/\">Bachelor of Education<\/a> at York University as a part of the Glendon campus cohort<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\">Demonstrate French fluency (intermediate level or higher) through a placement test in order to gain admission to the Education program on Glendon campus\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Proficiency is expected to increase by the end of the degree<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\">Complete the following courses (total 6.00 credits):\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ED\/EDFR 2000 (3.00) <em>Teaching and Learning French in an Immersion Context<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ED\/EDFR 3000 (3.00) <em>Teaching and Learning French in a Core French Context<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">Students admitted to the Glendon-based BEd program are normally selected on the basis of education-related experience, references, university grade point averages and a written test in French or DALF\/DELF scores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">Considerable emphasis in the coursework and practicum is placed on&nbsp;French as a Second Language teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Please note:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\">The option is only open to students in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/edu\/students\/bed-concurrent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bachelor of Education<\/a> program cohort that is based at the Glendon campus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\">Students must complete all of the required activities during their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glendon.yorku.ca\/futurestudents\/academic-programs\/undergraduate-programs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Glendon degree<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/edu\/students\/bachelor-of-education-bed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BEd degree<\/a> program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\">Please be advised that programs in the Faculty of Education are intended to be delivered on campus or in official offsite locations in Toronto;&nbsp;school placements can only be completed at partners school boards, which are located in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-a417366bbe48dc076c06580ed6d2d22f\" style=\"font-size:25px\"><strong>Consecutive Glendon BEd (French as a Second Language)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">Glendon BA French Studies students wishing to be considered for the Glendon Bachelor of Education, French as a Second Language (FSL) will apply while in their final year of their BA French Studies program or have already completed the BA degree. Application is through the Ontario Universities\u2019 Application Centre (Teacher Education Application Services) &nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ouac.on.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.ouac.on.ca<\/a>. &nbsp;<strong>Deadline December 1, 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\">Glendon students enter the program if pursuing a general degree (90.00 credits) with teaching level Primary\/Junior or Junior\/Intermediate, or if pursuing an honours degree (120.00 credits) with teaching level Primary\/Junior, Junior\/Intermediate or Intermediate\/Senior prior to September 2026.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\">Glendon students interested in Junior\/Intermediate or Intermediate\/Senior are required to have French Studies as their Glendon major to meet the French teachable requirement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"font-size:18px\">Please note that space is limited.
