Program: Global Geography
Year of study: 4th year year
Office Hours: Tuesday 10:00am to 11:00am
High school or other academic institutions attended: Michael Power-St. Joseph Catholic High School
Reason for choosing program: I have always been interested in nature and the environment, and luckily had the opportunity to explore these interests through the Army cadet program. Constantly being out in the wilderness enhanced my love for nature and sparked my interest in how we, as inhabitants of this earth, relate to it. When choosing university programs this one stood out to me because of the vast topics that are covered in both physical and human geography. Through this program I hope to expand my knowledge about natural landscapes and current global events.
Intentions for the future: I plan to unitize my degree as a steppingstone towards my future goal of becoming a broadcast meteorologist. After my undergraduate I plan to do a broadcast journalism college course, specializing in television. This career incorporates both my passion for physical geography as well as entertaining people. My aim is to utilize a media platform to provide accurate weather forecasts/local news for viewers and to spread positivity!
Favourite part of the program: We learn about current topics that are taking place globally and gain a wide variety of transferable skills. In my opinion, Geography relates to every aspect of our daily lives. I find it remarkably interesting to understand the world we live in, not only through a physical geographical viewpoint, but also through social, political, and economical aspects. The program covers topics in both physical and human related geography, while promoting critical thinking skills. Also, the faculty is an extremely diverse and close-knit community which improves the overall university experience.
