Double Majors & Major Minors

Which Additional Major/Minor Should I Choose?

Ask yourself the following questions:
  • Am I enjoying the courses in my current major?
  • Have I taken any courses that I particularly enjoyed in another major?
  • Do I know what I want to do after I graduate? Have I changed my mind about this since starting my degree?
  • Is my current major moving me towards my next steps?

Make an appointment with the Career Development Centre to help narrow down your choices, and align your second major/minor with your career goals!

Here is an approximation of course breakdowns between the different degree types:

Interested in Adding to your degree?

You may wish to take an introductory course in your new chosen subject to make sure you enjoy the subject before officially changing your program, but this is purely optional. (ex. GL/ECON 1000 3.00 and GL/ECON 1010 3.00).

There are many advantages to adding to your degree, but be aware that:
  • In some cases, you may need to earn more than 120 credits to complete a second major or a minor.
  • Scheduling may be trickier between two programs
