Faculty Members’ Biographical Statements

Kevin Tasa, Graduate Program in Administration
Kevin Tasa is the Associate Dean, Academic at Schulich and an Associate Professor of Organization Studies. He has served as the Area Coordinator for Organization Studies, the Director of the Master of Management Program, and the Director of the MBA program at McMaster University. He has received the MBA Teaching Excellence award at both McMaster and Schulich, and is a co-author of two best-selling textbooks, Essentials of Negotiation and Canadian Organizational Behaviour. He is currently a member of York Senate Executive and has served on decanal search committees at both York and McMaster. His interest in serving on the FGS Decanal Search Committee stems from the fact that Schulich has numerous graduate-level programs and the Dean of Graduate Studies serves an important role in guiding and steering these important programs.

Michael Zryd, Graduate Programs in Communication and Culture; Film; Humanities
Michael Zryd is Associate Professor in Cinema and Media Studies at York University, where he also serves as Graduate Program Director of Cinema & Media Studies and holds graduate appointments in Communication & Culture and Humanities. I worked as Associate Dean, Academic in the Faculty of Graduate Studies 2015-18. I have participated in two previous FGS Dean Search Committees. Continuing FGS's strong advocacy for graduate and postdoc activities at York University, including defending interdisciplinary and cross-Program and cross-Faculty research, motivates my willingness to serve on the Dean's Search Committee once more.

My research areas include experimental film & moving image arts, and the history of the discipline of cinema and media studies. I was founding co-chair of the Society for Cinema and Media Studies Experimental Film and Media Scholarly Interest Group, and past President of the Film Studies Association of Canada.
