Plotting and Programming in Python for Non-Coders

Plotting and Programming in Python for Non-Coders Online

Presenter: Ali Sadaqain

This workshop, which takes place across three sessions from October 4-7, is an introduction to programming in Python for people with little or no previous programming experience. Using data from the Gapminder Foundation, you will learn the basics of working with the flexible and powerful Python programming language. Material will cover basic programming concepts, loading and working with data, and using libraries to create graphs and charts.

Workshop benefits:

  • Get an introduction to how programming can automate repetitive or large tasks
  • Have your own computer set up to support your own exploration with Python and coding
  • Understand how to load raw data into a format that makes processing and manipulation easier
  • Build simple plots and graphs of data to help with exploration and analysis

Participants should install the Anaconda Individual Edition before the workshop to ensure they have both Python and JupyterLabs ready to go for class. See installation instructions for Windows and MacOS. We will also be using this data set: python-novice-gapminder-data.zip. Instructors will be available 30 minutes before class each day to help with installation if needed!
