Contest and Contest Period
The Faculty of Health is pleased to offer the Student Design Contest for Health's 20th Anniversary Symbol as part of the 20th Anniversary celebration; the theme is Connected for Health. Current Faculty of Health students are invited to submit an original symbol design that reflects what health means to them and the idea of being connected for health. The selected design will be featured at the 20th anniversary celebrations and associated promotional materials. The winner will also receive a $500 award (the "Contest") deposited into their student account. The Contest is organized by the Faculty of Health (the "Organizer"), and will take place from 12:00 a.m., Eastern Time (EDT) September 30, 2025, to 11:59 p.m. EDT, November 1, 2025 (the "Contest Period").
Eligibility and Technical Requirements
- The Contest is open only to students who are currently enrolled in a degree program in the Faculty of Health at York University. Eligible undergraduate programs include Global Health; Health Studies; Health Policy, Management and Digital Health; Psychology; Kinesiology and Health Science; HH-Neuroscience; and Nursing. Graduate students in all Faculty of Health graduate programs are also eligible to take part in this contest.
- You are not eligible to enter if you are not a current student enrolled in one of the Faculty of Health’s academic programs.
- The submitted design must be a high-resolution PNG (.png) or JPG/JPEG (.jpg) file format with a minimum resolution of 1000x1000 pixels, CMYK colour mode at 300 DPI for print, and RGB colour mode at 72 DPI for digital, and no larger than 100 MB in size; Faculty of Health reserves the right to reject any submission that does not meet these technical requirements.
How to Enter
- No purchase is necessary to enter. Click on this link to the contest which will then direct you to the contest entry form.
- You may submit only one (1) entry.
- Selection of the Winner: The 20th Anniversary Executive Committee panel of Connected for Health will collect all entries submitted by the contest closing date, November 1, 2025. This Executive Committee will then meet to confidentially review all such submissions according to an established evaluation rubric and select one winner.
- Entries must be received before the contest closing date, November 1, 2025.
- No assignment of copyright is made upon an entry to the contest; all non-winning entries will be destroyed and will not be used.
- The winner will be required to assign copyright in their submitted symbol to the Organizer as well as provide their student number to confirm they are a current student in a Health academic program (refer to section 2 a and b). The winning entry may be reproduced, reused, and displayed for non-commercial purposes by York University upon its sole discretion.
- The University reserves the right not to select a winning entry. Entries will not be acknowledged or returned. The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Contest or which violate or are deemed ineligible under these Official Rules.
- Entries must be appropriate for use in a professional context, and must not contain any offensive, obscene or defamatory statements, including but not limited to words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a particular race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, disability or age (as determined in the Executive Committee's sole discretion).
- The Organizer is not responsible for late, lost, incomplete, illegible, misdirected, stolen, delayed, damaged or destroyed entries, or for any unavailable network connections, failed, incomplete, garbled, or delayed computer transmissions, on-line failures, hardware, software or other technical functions or disturbances or any other communications failures or circumstances affecting, disrupting or corrupting the Contest in any manner.
Prizes
- The selected symbol will be used by the Faculty of Health in its operations subject to its sole discretion. The eligible winner will receive a one-time award of $500 CDN, which will be issued as YU-Card Flex deposit to the student’s account. The winner will also be credited as the creator of the symbol when it is used and their name published as the creator.
- The selected winner will be notified by email no later than Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025. The YU Flex deposit will be initiated following confirmation.
- No cash alternative or substitution of the prize is provided, except that York University, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the prize is unavailable for any reason. The prize is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind and must be accepted as awarded. York University disclaims all warranties including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
- Prize is not transferable unless authorized in writing by York University before the transfer is made. Such authorization may be granted or withheld in York University's sole discretion.
- Any applicable taxes are the responsibility of the winner.
- In order to be declared a winner, you must confirm compliance with the Contest Rules.
Conditions of Participation
By participating in this Contest, you agree:
- to be bound by these Official Contest Rules and the decisions of the Organizer, whose decisions are final;
- to the use of your name, likeness, voice, image, recording, video footage and statements in connection with this Contest and the promotion and exploitation thereof;
- that if selected as a winner, you give York University and its agents the right to publish or broadcast your name, likeness, voice, image, recording, video footage or statements for editorial, promotional, advertising and publicity purposes, without compensation other than the value of the prize offered; and
- to release and indemnify and hold harmless York University, its advertising and promotional agencies, the prize suppliers, and all their respective officers, directors, employees, owners, agents, contractors, representatives, successors and assigns from any liability in connection with or arising out of this Contest, the awarding of the prize, the use of any personal information or the use of merchandise purchased in relation to winning a prize.
Termination
York University also reserves the right, without prior notice, and at any time, to terminate the Contest, in whole or in part or modify, suspend, or extend the Contest in any way.
General Provisions
- The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Contest Rules does not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision.
- This Contest and these Official Contest Rules are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of any other jurisdiction's laws.
- Should the Contest be terminated prior to the stated expiration date, the Organizer shall, to the extent possible, award any remaining prizes in a fair and equitable manner, determined in its discretion, among the eligible entries received that are unaffected by the problem.
Privacy Notice
Personal information in connection with the Contest is collected under the authority of The York University Act, 1965 and will be used for the administration of the Contest and related purposes.

Limitation of Liability
The Contest is not associated with, run by, or sponsored by Instagram or X (previously Twitter). By participating in the Contest, Entrant provides information to the Organizer and not to Instagram or X (previously Twitter). By accepting these Rules, you release Instagram and X (previously Twitter) of all responsibilities.
