The use and scalability of employing digital health tools and systems can play an important role in how people in both the Global North and Global South can achieve higher standards of health, better coordinate and share health information, and promote more efficient access to health services. Currently, there is a massive push around the world to develop the infrastructure and systems for information and communication technologies for health to promote equitable, affordable, and universal access to their benefits.
The Global e-Health stream examines how digital health tools and systems improve access to care, strengthen health information sharing, and support more equitable and efficient health services across the Global North and Global South. Students explore key areas such as artificial intelligence, global health informatics, health information systems, virtual communities, and broader applications of information and communication technologies in health care. Specialized Honours students may also take select courses from the School of Health Policy and Management to deepen their understanding of digital health technologies, e-health applications, and health informatics systems.
