Psychology Student Youth Competition (PSYC)

PSYC (Psychology Students Youth Competition) is a youth psychology competition where participants explore, apply and demonstrate their understanding of psychological concepts. Through PSYC, participants connect with faculty members, experience university-level learning and receive recognition for their achievements.

Hosted by York University's Department of Psychology, home to one of Canada's largest undergraduate psychology programs.

PSYC is a student-led, not-for-profit initiative founded in 2025 by high school students Karthik Subbiah, Mikail Iqbal, Ricky Zou and Milton Dai, under the guidance of their teacher, Mr. Reusch. PSYC was established to address the scarcity of psychology-focused extracurriculars in schools, aiming to create a dedicated platform for students to explore this fascinating field. Beyond hosting the competition, PSYC empowers students to develop leadership, collaboration, and organizational skills by taking on meaningful roles within the organization. As PSYC continues to grow, new student leaders join the team each year, helping expand its impact while inspiring the next generation of students interested in psychology. PSYC aims to inspire the next generation of students interested in psychology while fostering leadership, curiosity, and academic engagement.
