Hennick Business Law Internships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As a Hennick JD\/MBA student, you have a unique chance to gain firsthand experience in legal practice \u2013 and round out your resum\u00e9 \u2013 through the Hennick Business Law Internship program. This summer internship is among the most popular experiential learning opportunities at Osgoode. Recent participating organizations include the Ontario Securities Commission, University Health Network, Forum Asset Management, and the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To qualify for the Hennick Business Law Internship, you must be enrolled in or have just completed year one of the JD program, whether as a first year or second year JD\/MBA candidate. Your interest in business and law, evidenced by your enrollment in the JD\/MBA program, should be further demonstrated by your law school coursework, prior post-secondary studies, and past work or volunteer experience.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Summer Exchange Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To augment your JD\/MBA with international study and experience, in year three you can take advantage of Schulich's full-time Summer term exchange<\/a> program. Of the elective business courses that you choose for this valuable term abroad, up to 6.00 credits can be applied to the total 45.00 credits you must complete at Schulich as part of the JD\/MBA requirement. Strategy Field Study (601)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Strategy Field Study, also known as the \u2018601\u2019 is the culmination of the Schulich MBA program. This eight-month project involves a team of six or seven top business students from diverse backgrounds conducting a comprehensive strategic assessment of all functional areas within an organization, as well as the external environment that a company faces. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 601 project was the perfect capstone to the JD\/MBA experience. I had the opportunity to advise a mining drill bits company based in Peru on market expansion strategies, navigating cross-border regulatory challenges, and positioning them for international growth. The experience allowed me to integrate business strategy with legal and compliance considerations in a real-world setting, something few graduate programs offer at this level. It pushed me to think like both a consultant and future counsel. Most importantly, working with a global client team in a live consulting environment sharpened my leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills in ways no classroom could replicate. It\u2019s an experience I\u2019ll carry forward in both my legal and business career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
