Glendon Updates - Fall/Winter 2020-21

Glendon Residence Update

York University is committed to offering students living in residence with a welcoming, safe, and supportive community. After careful consideration, the University has determined that the best way to support students who require on-campus residence accommodations during these challenging times, is to do so by offering accommodations solely on the Keele campus. As a current resident at our Glendon campus, we wanted to share with you details about our decision and what your next steps are to confirm your residence requirements. Click here for information about move-in at our Keele campus.

NOTE: This page contains information specific to the Fall/Winter 2020-21 term.

Why are all residents being offered accommodations at the Keele campus?

Throughout the summer, the University has provided information on academic course schedules and on travel restrictions. This information has helped students to decide on their on-campus accommodation needs. Based on those decisions, we have experienced a decline in demand for on-campus accommodations at the Glendon campus.

By creating a combined residence community at Keele, students will have a larger offering of support services, residence life programs and food services. In addition, Keele campus offers convenient access to TTC subway services, providing students increased access to the Greater Toronto Area.

Glendon students will have access to the same academic advisors, financial services, career and counseling services to meet their needs efficiently and securely, through the online offerings.

We believe that this approach will enable students to have a strong and supportive network and a better sense of belonging that will contribute to their residence experience in a positive way.
What residence options are available for me?

Glendon Housing Services will contact you to discuss your room assignment. All Glendon residents are guaranteed accommodations at the Keele campus, including access to more suite-style accommodations. The following room types are available:

Traditional single: $7,154
Single suite (semi-private): $8,920

Meal plans are mandatory for residents in traditional single rooms. For those residents that choose a single suite (semi-private), meal plans are optional. Keele campus offers a wide variety of food service outlets where meal plans are accepted.
Will I still receive bilingual support from Glendon College?

Yes. Even though you will be living on the Keele campus, you will be supported by the Glendon Housing & Residence Life teams. Your Don will be an upper-year Glendon student and your Residence Life Coordinator will be from the Glendon Residence Life team. They will provide you with personal support throughout your academic year.

Glendon Housing will continue to support you with your room assignment, maintenance, and general inquiries. Bilingual services will continue to be available.
I have already scheduled a move-in appointment for Glendon, will that change?

Glendon Housing will contact you to finalize your room assignment and move-in appointment. For those residents who have already coordinated their travel arrangements, we will accommodate your already confirmed move-in day.
I do not want to live on the Keele campus. What are my options?

If you wish to cancel your residence booking, you may do so and receive a full refund on all deposits and application fees. You must cancel your unit by August 24th, 2020. If you wish to discuss your residence options, please contact Glendon Housing at glendon@yorku.ca.
