Using my own journey as an ethnographic filmmaker to help ground its claims, this talk seeks to articulate the epistemological and ethical value of multimodal scholarship for anthropology and other disciplines/fields. With the work of scholars and media makers such as Roland Barthes, Carolyn Rouse, Frederick Wiseman, Faye Ginsburg, and Zora Neale Hurston providing some of the framework and conceptual scaffolding for the contention, I argue that multimodal scholarship is the future of us all.
