Sociology Field Placement

This course places sociology students in not-for-profit, government, and community organizations in order to gain experience and skills in workplaces that respond to social inequalities. In addition, the students will meet regularly in a seminar setting to reflect upon their experience, and connect it to their sociological training.

Examine social interaction and explore thought-provoking topics such as social inequality, the causes and effects of global migration, and the meaning of gender and race in society.

Department of Sociology Undergraduate Student Award for Excellence

Awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Sociology in their fourth year, who best demonstrate our department's commitment to publicly engaged sociology. The award will be given to students who demonstrate academic excellence (minimum GPA of B+) and community engagement. Nomination by a full-time, CLA or contract faculty member in the Department of Sociology.
