Oral Communication in French (CEFR B2)

This French-language course focuses on spoken French. Oral comprehension, pronunciation, conversational skills and vocabulary are improved through various oral activities, including individualized coaching and discussion on a variety of topics. The unifying thematic framework is that of the Francophone world. CEFR refers to the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and is an internationally-recognized benchmark for language levels.

This course emphasises the techniques of oral production and comprehension to enable students to gain greater linguistic confidence and independence. Students will gain the skills necessary to systematically correct their oral French through the use of independent study tools they can continue to use all their lives. The course will cover elements including: vocal production, diction, articulation and non-verbal communication; spontaneous expression without notes; analysis of oral communication in a variety of contexts (media, etc.). This language practice will be carried out within the context of a discovery of the diversity of the Francophone world as seen through a variety of themes: arts, media, science, etc. Students will have the opportunity to conduct further research on these themes and present their findings orally.
