Francophone Literature for Young People

This course provides a comprehensive exploration of the multifaceted world of francophone literature for young people. By engaging with a diverse range of texts, including young adult novels, students develop a critical understanding of the cultural and social factors that shape the genre. They also learn how to apply literary concepts to their own reading and interpretation of the texts.

Throughout the course, students develop a nuanced understanding of the different perspectives and voices that contribute to the genre, with a particular focus on key elements such as identity, diversity, and equality. They also explore the "narrative of education" that often underpins these stories, which examines how the protagonist develops morally and psychologically over the course of the narrative.

One of the main goals of the course is to encourage students to develop their own critical perspectives on francophone literature for young people. By engaging in group discussions and activities, they see how these representations shape the readers' perceptions of themselves and the world around them.

Through in-depth textual analysis, students evaluate key elements that serve as the fundamentals of the genre. By the end of the course, they gain a deep understanding of the complex and multifaceted world of literature for young people. They are well-equipped to navigate the genre's ever-evolving landscape and appreciate the diverse voices and perspectives it encompasses. They have honed critical thinking and analysis skills, allowing them to engage with the genre in their future studies and beyond.
