To mark International Women’s Day, on March 11, 2020, the Nellie Langford Rowell Library, along with the School of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies of York University, and lovingsister.com jointly launched a photography exhibition “Women’s Rights are Human Rights.” The exhibit documents women’s marches in Toronto in 2017 and 2018, and Washington D.C. in 2019, as well as the “Truth to Power” protest in London, U.K. in 2020. It showcases the photographs taken by Yafang Shi, the artist and journalist who has a degree in Sociology from the London School of Economics. The exhibit opened in the Nellie on March 11, 2020, with Professor Allyson Mitchell moderating a discussion and Q&A with the photographer Yafang Shi.
