School of Gender, Sexuality & Women’s Studies professor cowrites article about Islamophobic attacks in Canada

Assistant professor Nadia Hasan from the School of Gender, Sexuality & Women’s Studies has cowritten an article for The Conversation about a recent attack on a Muslim woman in Ajax, Ontario. The article looks at the ways in which Muslim women’s bodies have become politicized by white supremacy and other racist ideologies in Canada. Attacks on Muslim women in Canada are becoming increasingly common, causing many to feel vulnerable in public spaces.

Nadia Hasan’s research interests include race and racism; gender issues; Islamophobia; diaspora and South Asia. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from York University.
