Ninth Floor: The Past and Current State of Racism and Police Oversight

Join the Department of Sociology for a viewing of the film Ninth Floor (NFB) in the Nat Taylor Cinema on May 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Ninth Floor revisits the 1969 Sir George Williams riot which took place in Montreal after police intervened in a student protest against a university decision concerning a complaint of racial discrimination.

Following the film screening, Associate Professor Robert A. Kenedy and special guest Rodney John, who was part of the riot will be discussing the riot, film and the current state of policing and racism in Canada.
