Jack L. Rozdilsky, associate professor of Disaster & Emergency Management in the School of Administrative Studies, was featured in an article in the Globe and Mail discussing the increasing number of municipalities in Canada that are struggling with the costs associated with managing wildfires. Many smaller municipalities are struggling to get reimbursed by the federal government for the expenses resulting from these emergencies, such as evacuee housing and staffing. Rozdilsky says this is a “growing problem” as wildfires are becoming more frequent in Canada.
