Allen Curtis Koretsky, professor emeritus in the Department of English and former head of Stong College, passed away on July 9, 2025.
Koretsky earned a PhD from the University of Toronto before joining York University in the late 1960s where he taught in the Department of English for more than four decades where he contributed through his research and teaching with a focus on the 18th-century novel, as well as Old and Middle English.
In addition to his teaching, Koretsky mentored students as the head of Stong College and was admired by colleagues and students for his warmth, humility and belief in the importance of diverse perspectives and experiences.
